Sacred Arts Gallery
The Sacred Art Guild quietly works in the background to celebrate and encourage the sacred gift of creation in humans. When God created humankind in its own image, creation became a part of all of us. Some people express this spark in music, some in science, some in building, some in dance, some in raising children, and some through visual arts. Because the visual arts have inspired expressions of faith for as long as humans have been around, churches have historically supported the arts. At St. Mark’s, we believe the visual arts are just one part of a rich and varied community.
Each quarter, an invitational show, open to the public, is hung in our Parish Hall. Solo or Small Group exhibits are offered in the library (except during construction). The Sacred Arts Guilding retains a small 20% commission on art sales, which is used to purchase art for the church and to provide funds for special needs to enhance the beauty of our buildings and grounds.
These Sacred Arts Galleries are open to the public Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 pm and Sundays, 9 am to 12 pm.
If you would like to be part of our Sacred Arts program, participating as an artist or as a supporter of the arts, contact Sacred Art Guild Chair, Lisa Newell via email for more information. The guild invites member to help with receptions, hanging new shows, exhibiting and/or teaching workshops, and submitting your own artwork to shows.

About the Sacred Arts Guild
Our Sacred Arts Guild is a group of devoted to iconography. They teach the concepts behind iconography, along with holding classes throughout the year on learning to paint icons. The Guild has also created many achingly beautiful icons for that are used regularly in the liturgies of St. Mark's and are on display in the Nave. You may view the Liturgical Art Guide here. If you are interested in taking classes contact Lin Marksbury.
