Rio Grande Borderland Ministries

Description

Rio Grande Borderland Ministries (RGBM) is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande serving in the borderlands of New Mexico and Far West Texas. RGBM has been engaging with long-term systemic needs on the border for decades by working collaboratively to provide humanitarian support to vulnerable people in our border communities. We help to ensure that our migrant neighbors are embraced in the service of justice, the interest of dignity, and the spirit of love. The compassionate response of RGBM is simple — to feed, shelter, and care for our neighbors on both sides of the border.

Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico

Description

Roadrunner® Food Bank of New Mexico is part of a national network of 200 plus food banks across the United States called Feeding America. This national membership allows us bring resources to New Mexico that help our hungry neighbors.  In fact, when you see the Feeding America brand here in New Mexico, the funds raised come back to benefit the food bank. Here at St. Mark's we have boxes in our Narthex to collect non-perishable food items for the food bank.

Regular Activities

Click here to watch a video on how food banks work.

As the largest food bank in New Mexico, Roadrunner Food Bank is committed

to ending hunger in our community.

We focus on:

  • Food recovery and rescue – We work with a variety of partners to rescue food that might otherwise be thrown in the trash and wasted, and instead can be sent to those that need it.

  • Foods that nourish – We focus on providing healthy, fresh food to those who may not have access to it, either due to its expense or because they live in a food desert.

  • Food safety – We are committed to upholding federal regulations to ensure all of the food that our partner networks give to their communities is held to the highest standards of food safety.

  • Food security – We work to find ways for individuals and families to build food security into their futures.

Toddler Program

(Starting at 18 months-3 years)

Our beautiful Toddler classroom is intentionally designed to create an ideal environment for

a first-time learning experience. Many social, emotional and physical developments are

made during this time frame in a child's life, including potty training and foundational

language development. The classroom Guides encourage each child to become

familiar with the practices of sharing and waiting their turn, all while nurturing

independence and a lifelong joy in learning. The Montessori materials follow

the development of each child and support an intrinsic desire to learn.

Primary Program

(3 Years-Kindergarten)

The bright and open floorplan in our Primary classroom is a warm welcome to children ages 3 to Kindergarten.  The prepared environment, self-guiding Montessori materials and daily lesson demonstrations support a natural curiosity for learning and exploring. The focus of our Guides is to follow the lead of the child and allow all potentials and possibilities to blossom in their own timing. With older students eagerly mentoring the younger, a key ingredient in a Montessori classroom, a learning circle and bond are built among the students resulting in the experience of a "school family."
