What is the ROTA?

St. Mark's Episcopal Church does not function without its members' participation, especially when it comes to Worship. Since we're currently worshipping at our neighboring church, additional coordination is needed to ensure we leave First Church by 10:30 am and that we've left the space ready for their service. Sunday mornings have a lot of "moving parts"  and we have asked all members to volunteer just once a month for a Sunday morning task that takes about 15 minutes. The ROTA is the tool we use to manage our Sunday volunteers.

Remember: It's not just about getting the job done; it's about doing it together! Our work and worship on Sundays at St. Mark's is an opportunity for us to embody our core congregational values of connection, inclusion and participation.  We hope you'll make the most of this opportunity to practice teamwork, training, and deepening relationships with God and each other.

Some Helpful Hints for Reading the Rota

The ROTA TABLE below shows the ROTA for an ENTIRE SEASON

Each COLUMN represents one single Sunday, moving chronologically through the season from left to right.

Each ROW represents a particular ministry role, moving chronologically  through the day from top ("before the service") to bottom ("after the service.")

A RED BOX means there's a hole in the schedule.  Let our Rota Czar & Team Leader know if it's a hole you can fill!

TEAM LEADERS appear in a GOLD BOX above the Team Members.

TEAM MEMBERS appear in the WHITE BOXES immediately below each Team Leader.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if I can’t serve when I’m scheduled?

NO PROBLEM!  If you are unable to serve when you’ve been scheduled, we ask that you arrange to trade with another member on the schedule or one of our  designated “subs” and ask them to cover for you, then email “Rota Czar” Catherine Vogel with the change so she can update the schedule and notify our team leaders.  If you have a last minute illness or emergency, and don’t have time to find a sub, please text your Team Leader so they can step in or make sure everything gets covered.

How can I find out who my Team Leader is?

All our Team Leaders, Team Members, and Subs are listed on this Sunday Morning Ministry Team (Summer 2026) List (NOTE: The teams are listed more or less ordered “in order of appearance”.) Feel free to reach out to the leaders listed to learn more or join a team!

How can I find someone’s contact information?

As long as your contact information in St. Mark’s Member Directory is current, you should be able to find contact info for everyone else (including your team members and team leaders) in our Member Directory, too.  (Note:  If you are contacting a member who is <18, please copy their parents on your communication.)  Please reach out to our Parish Administrator, Jennifer Lind, or Communications Coordinator Deb Bluestone if you need help accessing the directory.
