Hospitality is a core Christian spiritual practice. At St. Mark’s we strive to practice hospitality in everything we do–from big things–like remodeling our building to making our worship space and restrooms more accessible; to small things–like wearing nametags which help everyone remember and respectfully use people’s names and correct pronouns. 

 

On Sunday Mornings our hospitality begins when our coffee team arrives early to start brewing coffee and our altar guild arrives early to prepare the altar for worship. Hospitality continues as our greeters welcome folks at the door with a smile and our ushers provide orders of worship. Hospitality reaches it’s high point in our celebration of Holy Communion–where God welcomes ALL who hunger to share in the Heavenly Feast. The feast continues after each service, flowing into a lively time of food and fellowship at Coffee Hour. 

 

St. Mark’s Coffee Hour is somewhat legendary–it offers visitors a first taste (both literally and figuratively) of the warmth, openness, and connection that makes the St. Mark’s community special. We are able to extend such generous hospitality and enjoy such robust fellowship week after week because EVERYONE contributes SOMETHING to make it happen!

We want to say a Huge THANK YOU to everyone who contributes to hospitality, and especially coffee hour, at St. Mark’s, and if you're not already active in supporting coffee hour at St. Mark’s, we want to INVITE YOU TO JOIN US in this important work!

There are lots of ways you can help:

1) You can join a coffee team and help set up and/or clean up one time per month 

2) You can bring a snack to share… every week or once a month: We encourage everyone to put a recurring reminder on your calendar to bring something to share at least once a month, based on your last name:

• 1st - Sundays A-E

• 2nd - Sundays F-L

• 3rd - Sundays M-R

• 4th - Sundays S-Z

• 5th - Sundays Pancake Breakfast

 

You can make things easier for our Coffee Teams by bringing your snacks plated, covered, and ready to serve! Pre-packaged treats are welcome too! 

 

3) Make a special financial contribution to “Sponsor” a Coffee Hour in honor of a loved one, a special occasion, a ministry or a holiday that’s important to you. Simply notify the church office that you would like to sponsor a coffee hour, and provide your preferred date, a brief dedication or description of the person/occasion you wish to honor, and a photo (if desired) along with your donation.
