Weddings and Blessings of Lifelong Covenants

Congratulations! Making a lifelong commitment to your beloved is a powerful decision and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with the community of faith. As a faith community, we believe that we can help to make that commitment strong and deep.

Because marriage and lifelong covenant relationship are profound commitments, the Episcopal Church requires a period of prior preparation and counseling. It takes time to plan and prepare for these joyous sacramental rites, so we encourage you to contact us early, so the rector can help you plan the ceremony, enjoy deep conversations about the vows you will make, and prepare for the adventure that God is calling you into with your beloved.

Wedding and Blessing ceremonies may be held in the central nave, which seats 400 people, or in the Chapel, which seats 40 people. Our fellowship hall is available for receptions, which can be catered. Scheduling for weddings and receptions are determined in consultation with the rector and parish administrator.

Baptism

Baptism at St. Mark’s is a joyful celebration that reminds each of us through word and action that we belong to God and to the community of faith. For babies and very young children, baptism is a family celebration; for older children and youth, baptism becomes a more personal decision to claim a life of faith and acknowledge one’s growing friendship with God; and for adults, baptism is a way of acknowledging a new life direction and faith that has been growing and maturing within.

If you are interested in scheduling a baptism, please contact the church office, 262-2484, to make an appointment with our clergy. You can share hopes for yourself or your child, learn about the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, and explore the many ways to become part of this community and fulfill the promises made in Baptism. It is the beginning of a lifelong, wonder-filled journey with Christ.

Confirmation

At St. Mark’s, we understand the Confirmation as a deeply personal and transformational step in the adult journey of faith. In light of this, we practice adult confirmation for those who sense God at work within and have a desire to make an adult profession of faith to enter the Episcopal Church and worldwide Anglican Communion.

Each year, we hold a New Members Class, which is a series for all who seek to know more about our church, theology, history and the everyday practice of our faith. It serves as preparation for those interested in Confirmation, as well as Baptism, Reception into the Episcopal Church, or Reaffirmation of faith. If you are interested in Confirmation, please contact the church office, 262-2484, to make an appointment with our clergy or sign up for the next New Members Class.

Funerals and Memorial Services

Our deepest sympathies go out to you because if you are here, you have lost, or may be about to lose, a loved one. The Christian faith comforts us with the belief that not even death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. We know that when someone we love dies, we need support, wisdom and care. We can help you plan a service that will honor and celebrate a life well lived.

You do not, or a family member does not, need to be a parishioner of St. Mark’s to hold a memorial service in our church. We extend our love and support as a Christian community at difficult life passages as this. If you wish to speak with a member of the clergy about having the funeral or memorial service of a loved one here, call the church office at 262-2484.
